The upstairs hall closet has it's guts spewed on the floor, preventing entry into two bedrooms, waiting for me to decide what gets tossed. goes to charity or kept. It's a tough discussion. One item I want to keep is a handmade kaleidoscope, given to me by a man a long time ago that my grandfather once took me and my sister to visit. She got one as well, but I can't remember if hers had the same red wall paper on wrapped around the outside as mine or if it was different. I wonder if she still has hers. I have treasured mine. My grandfather was so proud of us girls that he use to take us on his visits to his patients. He was a small town doctor who made house calls. Once such visit was to a man who made wooden toys, hence the kaleidoscope. Another visit was to a woman who was home bound. We had to drive farther than usual and through a wooded area. I don't remember seeing a car around the home. She was a large woman. Grandfather gave her a shot of something, delivered some meds, took her blood pressure and then sat down to talk with her. There was a smell in the air. A smell I now call death. I have smelled that smell three times in my life (actually 4 - but I can't be sure about the third time. If it was a smell or just a feeling - so I am going to discounted as just a feeling). That time with the large woman who was home bound. Then again when I visited a neighbor of my grandparents. We use to visit them ever so often crossing PeePa's yard and ending up in their back yard. I can't remember their names, but they were kind to us and had cookies (such the memories of a child "they had cookies" funny now). On our last visit the husband gave me a elephant with ivory tusks, which I still have somewhere - waiting to be decided on. I don't know what was given to my sister, Tracy, but it was something of the same. I smelled death on that day too. Less than a month later the wife had died in a car accident. The seat beat caused internal bleeding. She died in hospital (as they use to say back then, maybe still do). The last time was I smelled death was a weekend in June. The whole family was gathering at my parents house to celebrate 3 birthdays, Father's day, an anniversary and an upcoming birth (my sister's first child, Emilie). My son, husband and I had just arrived at the home and were entering via the back door. The minute we entered the back door I turned to my son and said " You smell that? That's old people smell." I now know that was death. The house doesn't have that smell any more. My father died less than a week later. The red kaleidoscope is fulled with dust now. I wonder if I can clean it out with a vacuum clearer or a hair dryer (I don't own a hair dryer). I really don't want to loss it. It provides so many memories and one leads to another. Such a small thing. And why the hell won't this post allow for paragraphs???

I've got pics to show, but not with me today. Been camping twice in the last month. Now it's too hot to go camping since we're having 100 degree weather (odd for June). We been going swimming instead.

I am going to Mom's this weekend. Been getting the guilt trip from my sister to go. So I go.

I've been seeing famous people everywhere lately. Saw the TAPS van from that show on SciFi called "Ghost Hunters", saw the guy from that show in a restaurant, saw Molly Ringwald in the same restaurant. Yep seeing famous people all over.

I hope to get some more up here soon, but it doesn't really matter. The only people that are coming here are looking for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang stuff. Write one reference to that and it's history for ya.

MICHAEL "MIKE" HOLLIGER BADGER, 43, passed away March 4, 2009, at Sugar Land Methodist Hospital. A devoted music fan, enthusiastic traveler and friend to everyone he met, Mike was born July 16, 1965, in Houston to Robyn Lucas Badger and Corine Thomas Badger. His early childhood memories were of Corpus Christi, where the family moved in 1969. In 1973, the family returned to Houston where Mike began to acquire a group of life-long friends. He graduated from Cypress Creek High School in 1983, and moved to Nacogdoches to study journalism at Stephen F. Austin University. Combining a flair for writing with his considerable musical talent, he covered the local music scene for the SFA Pine Log. Following graduation in 1987, he returned to Houston where he worked as a writer for Petroleum Information (now IHS Inc.), Hopkins Public Relations and the Houston Chronicle. In 2004, he retired to travel the world with his long-time love Anne Leonard, whom he married on a joyous April day in 2007. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and is survived by his sister Betsy Badger Truesdale, her husband Thomas Truesdale and niece Katie Truesdale of Walden; and his wife Anne Leonard Badger and her mother, brother, two sisters, four nieces, two nephews and their spouses and significant others who have voted Mike the "best in-law ever." A celebration of Mike's all-too-short life will be held 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, at the Settegast-Kopf Co. Funeral Home, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, Texas, 281-565-5015. Memorials can be made to the National Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.

The bruises from my arms and legs are finally fading.

I still find traces of the glue on my arms and belly from the tape used to hold the IV and bandages.

I get tired easily and experience pain when over doing my day.

Pain medication makes me itch - but I am still taking it.

Recovery time is estimated to be 4 to 6 weeks. On Tuesday will be two weeks into my recovery. I am scheduled for a doctors follow up on Thursday.

Q: How many attempts does it take to hit a vain correctly for an IV in diedre?
A: five

Now that I have time at home to mess around I have no energy to do anything and of course I really, really want to take a long soak in a bath, but that is not allowed - only showers for me right now.

I am reading a lot, catching up on day time TV and the dogs are keeping me company.

Not much to do but take it easy and recover. Yeah.

Well, what is there to say.

Vacation was planned back in June for this past weekend. We had taken Thursday the 11th and Friday the 12th off from work. Booked a condo on North Padre Island. Of course we were looking forward to getting away and seeing friends.

Vacation was cancelled on Tuesday when it appeared that the eye of the hurricane was going to hit Corpus Christi. Before leaving work on Wednesday news had spread that it was going to now hit Freeport. Too close to home.

We still took Thursday and Friday off. Why not we had requested the time off months in advance. Work started letting people go at noon on Thursday anyway.

Thursday there was a line to get into the grocery store due to crowd control. Not a bad idea. There were lines for gasoline. Lines for the bank. Lines for everything. Now it was going to hit home. Galveston and then up to Houston.

Friday everything was dead. Just sat around waiting for the storm to come. Boarded up windows. Picked up everything from the yard and stored it. Waited for the storm to hit. Waited.

It hit. The boy's car is totalled, damage to the truck and my new car due to the neighbor's tree falling. No house damage thank goodness. One fence line will need to be replaced. Pool will need to be drained and cleaned. We still had water and gas through out the whole thing. Two days spent cleaning up the front yard. Still have not even touched the back. Power for us was back up on Monday at around 5:30pm. We were okay.

The office is still without power so they have me working from home. Yeah me!

I had a Honda Civic that got hit and insurance paid $5000 to total it out even though it was an 8 year old car. Blue book value on my last dead car is $2500 and it is 8 years too.

Maybe because as I get older I am getting less tolerant of the kiddies. I do not know. When I hear the screaming voices my skin crawls. Is it me? Yes, probably. Are they all out of control? Screaming and crying like the world revolves around them? I want I want I want!!!! At the stores, at the restaurants - I would love to go out to eat one night just one and not hear a single child screaming.

So with each advancing day I am beginning to feel more and more like this character from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The child catcher. He lures the children into his cart with sweets and lollies and tosses 'em into the dungeon. I really won't do this. Honest.

and to add to this more and more co-workers are bring their children to work so it is feeling like a day care around here. Spiderwick is now playing on the big screen in the conference room. Yeah. I do like the movie Spiderwick.

This book lasted far longer than it should have and the ending was very predictable. I hated it while I was reading it, but because I had started I had to finish. The beginning got you hooked, but then yuck. I think the author got paid by the page.

Fourth of July was spent at our house this year. I made fired chicken, potato salad, beans, deviled eggs (for Kevin), walking taco drip (for Bryan) and a blue berry pie. Geno made homemade ice cream. We also got a watermelon but forgot about it - poor forgotten watermelon. Bryan brought over homemade beer, which was very tasty and a ton of explosives. Todd, Terri, Eric, Stephanie, Kevin and Jesse cam over. Charles was being a couch potato and would come, Colleen had to work as Walmart made her take a night shift and Eric was at Lake Livingston. We all stayed up to about 1am playing Mexican Freight Train after the fire works were done. Is was a fun evening. Thank goodness I had both Saturday and Sunday to recover.

Well we had finally got the last leg completed of our replacement air conditioning unit. First we replaced the upstairs inside unit furnace and all. Then the hubby pipe in new cooper tubing for the new outside unit. Two cooper tubes, one smaller than the other wrapped together with black rubber foamy tubing and duct taped together every so many feet piped in from the outside 1st floor in through the chimney to the attic second story - that was a job. Then we had the AC man come out and replace the outside unit - and monster of a unit it is. Suppose to save us money - will see.
But that wasn't the fun part - after the AC man left when it started getting a bit dark inside the house and more and more things were getting turned on the break box blew and blew well it did.
BANG! Thank goodness the hubby is handy. by 6pm the next day we were back up and running. He replaced the whole thing.

I did not make these cakes they were make for him by a friend of his. I made a chocolate cake with strawberry icing all from scratch.

So he turned 18, got his arm piercing re-done as his father had him take it out a few years ago, bought a pack of cigs (just great) and has been getting calls from the recruiting office of our local Marines (oh joy) thank goodness he hasn't been answering them.

18 years ago I gave birth to a baby boy - goodness me. That was a long time ago and so much has changed since then said the grandma from her rocker.

Okay. so I'm on a Gary Oldman kick right now and it is true he is a cameleon !! A couple his movies haven't been that good, but not because of him. So when this one arrived via Netflix I was like okay let's try it.

The boy said he'd start watching it, but don't feel bad if he went upstairs in the middle. He stayed watching it with me the whole time, didn't leave the couch once.

I didn't even want to leave the room to pee, but I had to. This movie was so good you didn't want to miss a second of it.

I purchased the movie today from Amazon. Can't wait to see it again.

IT IS A MUST SEE.
