Call from the Mother

My mom went out of town. It was a three day (tour) - I just had to - no - it was just a three day trip to Missouri.

Why? To celebrate her brother's 70th birthday. tada! I know I really had you in suspense.

My mother is the eldest of three siblings. Her plane to a connecting flight to the grand old state of Missouri was delayed causing her to miss her connecting flight. Trust me, I didn't get the minute details, but very well could have with a few choice questions.

Any who - She missed the last plane and was stuck out in the middle of no where. Did my mother bother to call anyone, did she find a cab or a bus. NO! That would make too much sense. No, my 73 year old mother hitched a 2 hour car ride given to her by a total stranger, who then dropped her off in a church parking lot where she was then picked up by her youngest brother.

Does this bother me? Not really, okay just a bit, but not enough to do anything about it. I listened, I laughed and I realized that tomorrow when I speak with my sister that I am going to an ever, loving earful that will never cease. She will be yelling, ranting and, I have to add, raving!!!! I know that right now my sister is stewing in her most pissed off and upset juices. I am feeling sorry for her husband. Tomorrow, I will be wanting to commit a Van Gogh on myself and chop off an ear. AND OH DEAR GOD! If my dad weren't already dead - he would have shot himself. My mother has just proven to the world that she will never ever be allowed to travel my herself again. She has just relinquished one of her adult rights by telling her sordid story to my sister.

Sorry Mom. you could have kept quite. ya know.

Ya sure.
